A snapping turtle right in my backyard!

We wrangled it into a trash can.

We turned it loose at the river.
I was in the pet room, as Darrell calls it, putting a perch in the window for scooter. Darrell comes in and asks me if I would like to see a snapping turtle. I said where is it? I said this because we live 2 blocks from the river and turtles don't usually come that far inland. He said "in the backyard at the neighbors driveway". I went out and sure enough there it was. A muddy, yucky, mean snapping turtle. The last time we had a run in with a wild animal in the city was when we found a baby possum running around the back yard. There was mention of killing it and I was going to have no part in that as I am an animal rights activist so to speak. I said we are not killing this baby possum. We wrangled the possum into our metal trash can and halled it 2 blocks down to the river. I told Darrell to get the trash can and we would wrangle this turtle into that same trash can and hall it off to the river as well. We managed to get this snapper into the trash can and halled it to the river where it belonged. We didn't want to leave it in the backyard and risk one of the neighborhood kids getting there toes or fingers snapped off. So the turtle is safe at home in the river where it belongs. Darrell calls us the trash can gang now. I think that is cute. Anybody out there have an animal story of their own they want to share?

i remember about 3-5 months ago there was a turtle in my garage-an ugly and stinky turtle but it was really scared and chloe was barking her head off at it..and after running around the house trying to figure out what to do i got an old towel picked it up..almost had my fingers taken off and then i took it to the park like 10 mins drive from here and put in the pond...
up to this day it's still there.
i have no idea where it came from but he's got a nice home now.
